Enedina's Success Story | Woodburn, OR
Enedina Lopez Paz grew up working in agriculture most of her life. Her parents came to work in the U.S in 1998 and worked primarily as undocumented farmworkers in the Willamette Valley area. Enedina was 9 years old when she started school at Nellie Muir Elementary School in Woodburn. After graduating from North Marion High School in 2008, she applied for a scholarship under Chemeketa Scholars Program offered at Chemeketa Community College. Although she was an undocumented student, she was accepted into the program and completing in 2010. She obtained an Associate degree in General Studies. Upon graduating that year, Enedina started working with her parents at Bauman Farms and Gardens in Gervais. Enedina’s job was planting, pruning and fertilizing trees and shrubs. In October of 2017, she also purchase a new vehicle, a 2005 Nissan Xterra. In her personal life, she is now more economically stable and wants to save money to rent her own place this year. Enedina appreciated all the support and guidance she obtained from OHDC staff in meeting her employment goals.
