Empowering Farmworkers,

Strengthening Communities

Many of our staff and several board members are former farmworkers or come from farmworker families. Notably, several are graduates of our job training program who have chosen to give back to their communities.

Our flagship program is our workforce development initiative, primarily funded through the National Farmworker Jobs Program, a Department of Labor training initiative. This program helps farmworkers and their families secure higher-paying, more stable jobs, both within and outside of agriculture, and assists farmworker youth in attending college.

Our housing assistance programs provide farmworkers with rental and utility assistance, emergency shelter, and support for other household costs, proving essential to farmworker families throughout the pandemic.

In addition, OHDC offers weatherization services in Klamath and Lake County to help farmworkers and other low-income families save on energy costs. Throughout the year, we also provide a wide range of additional support, such as vaccine clinics, heat illness prevention training, and more.

Founded in 1979, the Oregon Human Development Corporation (OHDC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving farmworkers and their families. As the only culturally specific community action agency in Oregon, OHDC provides job training, housing assistance, and various resources through ten offices in Oregon, one in Nevada, and a central office in Gresham, Oregon.

OHDC is proud to be one of Oregon's few statewide organizations supporting the state's 174,000 farmworkers and their families, from the Willamette Valley to the Columbia River Gorge and eastern Oregon.
