
The
Young Parents Program aides young mothers receiving TANF in achieving
self-sufficiency through office visits, school visits, monthly support
group meetings, work readiness and GED preparation, job training,
work experiences, parenting education and support services. The
Young Parents Program receives funding from Portland Community College
JOBS and the Children's Trust Fund.
Eligibility
Criteria:
Young Parents Ages 14-19.
Client Referrals are made through the Department of Human Services
(DHS) Self-Sufficiency in Hillsboro.
Service
Area:
Hillsboro, Forest Grove, Aloha, North Plains, Banks, Manning, and
Gaston areas.
Program Benefits:
A variety of benefits are offered
to the young parents in the program, to include:
Advocacy and support services.
2 face-to-face visits per month.
Case management, counseling, and crisis intervention.
High School/GED retention.
Work Readiness classes.
Job training and/or work experience.
Monthly support group meetings.
A volunteer mentoring program to match adult mentors to young parents.
