OHDC
has been awarded funds, through Oregon's Tobacco Prevention and
Education Program (TPEP), to conduct statewide tobacco prevention
and education aimed at researching and developing effective, culturally
specific approaches and strategies to influence the way Oregon's
Latino communities view the use of tobacco. The goal is to limit,
reduce, and prevent tobacco use by the state's Latino population.
Our
Goals:
To organize a statewide Latino Tobacco Prevention Network to prevent
and reduce Latino tobacco use in Oregon, the Network will:
1.-
Identify and promote "best practices" to prevent and reduce
tobacco use.
2.-
Develop and implement regional tobacco prevention projects.
3.-
Participate in Oregon's Multicultural Council for Tobacco Prevention
and Education.
4.-
Provide technical assistance and consultation to other coalitions
and programs involved with tobacco prevention and education.
